FAQs

  • Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a production and marketing model whereby consumers buy shares of a farm’s harvest in advance. Consumers become CSA members by paying an agreed amount at the beginning of the growing season, either in one lump sum or in installments. The annual cost, generally ranging from $400-$700, depends on the length of the harvest season and the variety and quantity of products provided. This upfront payment helps buy the seed and other inputs needed for the season and provides the farmer an immediate income to begin the season. By paying at the beginning of the season, CSA members share in the risk of production and relieve much of the time needed for marketing. This allows us to concentrate on good land stewardship and growing high quality food.

In return for their membership fee, consumers receive a variety of freshly picked vegetables every week. Our CSAs also offer fruits, herbs, honey, cut flowers, and other products. Consumer-members eat healthy, sustainably produced food and have the satisfaction of knowing where it came from and how it was grown. Additionally, we offer on-farm social and educational activities for members, further strengthening the connection to the land and with the farmers who feed them.

  •  All farm shares are picked-up weekly at the Farm. We are located at 143 Amenia Union Road in Amenia, NY. Please come to the Black Barn and follow the signs leading you to your weekly share. We do not offer delivery at this time.

    Pick-up days are Tuesday & Friday from 12 - 6 PM

  • We ask that members stick to one pick-up day per week and do not change throughout their CSA program. This helps us better plan and ensure the freshest products.

  • Because of limited staff, accommodation changes to csa pick can not be guaranteed. If you can't pick up your share that week we encourage you to have a friend or neighbor pick it up instead. Unclaimed flower/veg shares will be donated to local community organizations otherwise

We are unable to hold bouquets past the designated pick-up date/time.  Additionally, we cannot extend additional bouquets to accommodate missed pick-ups since our seeding and planting schedules are finalized months in advance in order to plan our subscriptions accordingly.

  • As a member, you share in the abundance of our harvest and the risks that come with farming. Mother Nature, our farming partner, certainly keeps us on our toes, and although we like to think we do a pretty good job avoiding most of her curveballs, we still may lose a crop to drought, disease, insects, hail, or crazy June winds. If one of those fastballs hits us, it means you will not receive that particular crop for that season. If this occurs, we will do our best to make up for the value of the share by substituting something else in its place. We will do our best to communicate and keep you informed of our plan if such a thing happens.

  • We are transitioning our production fields to fully Certified Organic with Nofa-NY as our certifier. Maitri Farm is also recognized by the Real Organic Project. Organic standards address such factors as soil quality, pest and weed control, use of input materials, and humane treatment of livestock. Additionally, the flowers are New York State Grown and Certified. To learn more, visit:
