April Field Notes

April is starting off strong with new growth and colorful blooms making their first appearances of the season. Like most years, we’re in over our heads with seeding and always looking for a free surface to cram yet another sprouting tray. Next week, bed prep continues and transplanting kicks off as we inch closer and closer to ‘mud season’ in the Hudson Valley.

With so much to do, we’re seeking some extra hands and sweetening the deal with our *new* 2025 Work/Trade program. Trade your hard work for a flower or vegetable CSA share!

Work/Trade opportunities are available in both our cut flower and vegetable fields as an opportunity to do some vital farm labor in exchange for a CSA share. Activities will include transplanting, weeding, seasonal fieldwork, and occasionally harvesting. In exchange for your work, you'll receive a share for each shift you complete. If you're interested in helping out but think these tasks may be too physical for you, please reach out: we have a wide variety of jobs for people with a diverse variety of skills and abilities.

The details: We are looking for people who can consistently work 2 hours per week on Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays during the CSA season for at least five weeks, or a similar arrangement. You would have the opportunity to work alongside our stellar crew and learn something about how a small farm works. No experience is needed, but you must be prepared to work outside in a range of weather conditions.

We’re also very excited to announce a new wholesale partnership in Brooklyn! Flower Aggregate opens April 1st and will be an incredible source for pesticide-free, regionally sourced flowers in the area. Keep an eye out for our Maitri Farm stamp when shopping the floor!
