August already?!

Embracing the Summer Bounty

As we enter August, the farm is truly in the "heavy flush of summer bounty!" Week 9 of our summer veggie CSA is underway, bringing a fantastic array of fresh produce and marking the halfway point of the season. For our flower enthusiasts, it's the final week of our summer flower CSA and we’re going out with a bang. A big thank you to all who joined us for 5 weeks of bouquets!

Weathering the Summer

This summer's hot and wet weather has certainly made its presence known on the farm. We're constantly mindful of the risks of heat-related illness for our team, and we encourage everyone visiting the farm to stay hydrated. Please look for the jug of sun tea we leave out for everyone to take a drink from on these hot summer days. The increased humidity also means we're seeing more mosquitos and ticks, so please remember to take precautions.

Summer storms have also brought their challenges. Power outages are a common occurrence, often interrupting farm operations and requiring us to rely on the generator. We've even experienced lightning strikes taking out our agricultural well, which can significantly impact our irrigation efforts, which is especially frustrating on these hot afternoons.

Bikepacking Roots Northeast Summit

We were thrilled to host the annual Northeast Summit for Bikepackingroots.org in July! It was a great time filled with roughly150 bike enthusiasts camping on the farm, attending insightful seminars, and exploring our local community. It was a wonderful opportunity to share the beauty of our farm and the surrounding area with a passionate group.
