Peak Season Blooms
As we step into the heart of summer, July truly signals peak season here at Maitri! The long hours and dedicated effort put into the cycle of seeding, planting, weeding, and nurturing our crops are now truly paying off. Our fields are bursting with the vibrant colors and aromas of fresh produce, a testament to the hard work that began months ago.
This month, you'll find an abundance of sun-ripened treasures gracing our shelves and market stalls. Our juicy tomatoes are reaching their peak sweetness, alongside crisp peppers and a delightful variety of squash. And of course, the fragrant herbs like basil and parsley are thriving, ready to elevate your summer cooking.
The heat of July can be intense, but our incredible team has been truly amazing. Their dedication and ability to work together, even on the hottest days, is yielding fantastic results. We're so proud of how well everyone is gelling, making the work season not just productive, but a genuine pleasure. The long days lead to long conversations not only about how the farm operates but also how I can support team members who have a genuine passion for farming and want to make it their full-time career. I appreciate the opportunity to help mentor another farmer into the fold to encourage another generation of growers to learn about how the local food system works and how they can make a positive difference with their farm goals. Watching a team mate go from nterested field crew to passionate about compost tea and soil bio-mechanics is so satisfying.
What makes all this hard work truly rewarding is getting to share the bounty of our farm with you, our wonderful community. Whether you're picking up your weekly provisions directly from our farm store or CSA, or visiting us at local outlets like the Cornwall or Big Rock Markets, we absolutely love seeing your faces and knowing that our fresh, wholesome produce is gracing your tables. Thank you for being a part of our farm family!
